Benjamin Bosse, the Mayor of Evansville from 1914-1922, played an instrumental role in developing recreation in the City of Evansville. During his term, he oversaw construction of Evansville’s first public playgrounds, tennis courts and swimming pools. He also supported the foundation of Evansville's National Football League team, the Crimson Giants. But perhaps Bosse's most notable contribution to our city was his push for citizens to have civic pride. That challenge became the context for his most notable attributed quote: "when everyone boosts, everyone wins". Much of the recreation that brings our city together is, in part, due to Bosse. And for that, everyone wins.
