At one time, Evansville was home to 17 independent breweries. In 1894, three of those breweries – Fulton Avenue Brewery, John Hartmetz & Son, and Evansville Brewing Co. – consolidated to form the Evansville Brewing Association. The association was reportedly created to give smaller brew houses a fighting chance against the larger F.W. Cook Brewery. In 1910, the EBA employed 250 people and housed 20,000 barrels. The EBA asserted that their beers could be “drunk with pleasure and real sound logical reasons at that.” In 1918, it became Sterling Brewery.

The Evansville Design Group refreshed the original logo from 1894, creating the modern version shown here.
